NGD. 1965 Telestar RD2V. gold foil pickups, mirror pickguard, chunky neck, Japan. Offset like a jaguar or bobkat

Just picked a piece of history. Quite beautiful to look at.

Telestar RD2V circa 1965. The huge oversized mirrored pickguard is a real showpiece on this one. Made in Japan of 60s vintage. Maple neck which is very very thick, the thickest neck I’ve ever played.

Edit 2022: From Reverb info page:
“There is one good way to distinguish a Kawai (or a Kawai–era Teisco) from an original Teisco: look for a string bar on the headstock. Kawai used this feature on a majority of its solid bodies, while original Teisco guitars never used string bars and instead favoured pitched headstocks.”

Also, I sold this turd off. I didn’t have a tuner and took it to Florida in my van on big road trip. I couldn’t tune it (by ear) and I got so pissed off I wanted to throw it in the (Disney Coronado Springs) Lake.
Anyway, I sold it off in Florida to someone who wanted a vintage 60s era instrument and was happy. Sold it for about double what I paid for it.
