Passed by local yard sale… thought I should stop ‘just in case they have any guitars…’ and they did. Junky toy one and then my favorite vintage brand: Aspen.
Aspen made in Japan AD-18 acoustic. With case and strap. Tagged ‘$20’ and when I asked excitedly ‘is this $20 dollars?” the woman said, “No, it’s $10 half price end of sale”
Uh… I don’t need to post my thoughts on that aside when instantly saying ‘sold!’.
Woman got the guitar about 1981 when she was 11 years old and had it this whole time, and never learned guitar. I guess it was barely / never played.
After agreeing swiftly to buy it I noticed the soundboard bellying badly and the bridge ripping itself out… although still playable and low-ish action if you can believe it.
Ancients – like decades ancient strings. Chipboard case.
Anyway – I’m thrilled! A great knock around guitar I don’t have to feel guilty bringing on the road or outside with me. I will try my hand at repairing the bridge area too.
Case alone is worth $10 to me 🙂
Stumbled In. Hello. there is JLD Research Acoustic Guitar Bridge System. I used on Aspen AD-30 Hummingbird clone. Works great took the belly out. I also have AD-18, LC-5 classical and Les Paul Copy. These are good Sounding guitars, The AD-18 is getting bone nut and saddle. I buy Aspen guitars when the opportunity arises. Good luck with yours.
