My third film.

This one is a bit more Euro heavy in very late spring and summer after shooting winter all over America.
I buy a Sony 3CCD camera with a much better lens and add on a .5 Kenko lens for wide angling.
I think it’s the VCX1000 model but I should look that up.
Crispy picture, I like it better than the much cheaper Hitachi from year 1-2.
I get to travel to above the Arctic Circle to Riikgransen Sweden. Driving a shitty but reliable-ish Citroen all the way from Holland via Germany, Denmark and all of Sweden. Very memorable trip. I also snowboard at midnight off the backside of the resort with no lights but the dim just barely set sun – in the land that never gets dark in May we are so high north.
This is also the year that Joni Makkinen does THAT quarter pipe hit. Highest quarter pipe ever recorded. Makes the cover of TWS Transworld Snowboard Magazine.
Pasi Voho of Finland crushes that half pipe too, huge boosts.
I film reindeer above the Arctic Circle driving west into Norway after we are done in Riiksgransen.
Of course, during the winter I also ‘discover’ Tahoe as a my new basecamp out west. In no small part due to a housing hookup thru the SF crew. I get to stay all winter dirt cheap midweek and have to leave on weekends if many of the weekend warriors coming from SF need the rooms and beds. Works well for me on a budget.
Also, meet up with and shoot loads with Ryan Williams, Darren Cingel, Shawn Sterken – Lake Tahoe locals that rip. They all get parts in the Fluid movie.
East Coast phenom Jim Kelly features on the cover this year, jumping off a Tahoe location – I think this was Mount Rose.
In hindsight I do really enjoy this video. It’s a much better film than U.F.O.
