De Fanged my Vypyr

Had my Vypyr 15 amp for years. Out of the blue I read about “de-fanging” them (cosmetically). Was intrigued. Simply job, just remove 4 screws from the needlessly huge lousy material plastic band with logo under the knobs. It’s Great! Looks more vintage like and silly plastic blob can get stored or thrown away. I […]

Hondo 781 Deluxe Explorer

Wow. This neck is huge. Super thick. Might be the thickest neck I own except that vintage Japan Hy Lo hollow body I own. Measured 15/16″ at 1st fret. 1″ (-less than 1/64″) at 12th fret. Was expecting a thin shredder neck. Not at all. Super dense feeling thick solid maple neck. Normally I dislike […]

Arbor guitar catalog 1985 single page.

Here it is! Was searching a long time for this one. A group I’m on posted this. This shows exactly what I have and wondered what it was: My 1985 Arbor headless 505S guitar. Amazing neck thru guitar. They call it the ‘thru-body-neck guitar’ with two humbuckers. They also cite the Steinberger Licensed tremolo.

Epiphone Korina Explorer Inspired By Gibson ’23

Found this beauty online. On Reverb no less. Agreed to purchase. Oddly seller cancelled it. Then I spent some effort to get it back into play and presto! I got it! I received it totally gutted to wood. Obviously for large discount and wallet friendly price. Now, a long process begins on how to re-build […]

Synsonics Explorer MEX 20TA

It is very very light. Like 5 something pounds. I had to re-do the wiring, was quite easy and then all of the electronics worked! Two solder joints were blown / separated. I also have 3x shimmed the neck to try to get it with decent playability using a scrap piece of cedar shingle. I […]

Ibanez PF4-NT acoustic marvel. I love this guitar!!

Ibanez! PF4-NT Bored at work, – found it 30 min after posted on Craiggers! Pickup hours later. The action on this guitar is in the electric category, it’s like defying physics and like it should be illegal lol. For a low priced guitar, it sounds great, amazing I’d say. I do note some difference in […]

NGD: Just got another Aspen AD-18 Made in Japan

Passed by local yard sale… thought I should stop ‘just in case they have any guitars…’ and they did. Junky toy one and then my favorite vintage brand: Aspen. Aspen made in Japan AD-18 acoustic. With case and strap. Tagged ‘$20’ and when I asked excitedly ‘is this $20 dollars?” the woman said, “No, it’s […]

NGD: Aspen AD-18 acoustic

Just got this little guy. Was a little unsure about buying it, seller made a 40% off asking price so I bit. He nicely threw in a capo and it came with an old beat up cheapo chipboard case. The truss rod (I find out the next day) was completely loose. So the neck was […]

NGD!! Aria 1532T Vintage Made in Japan 1970

New guitar day!! Just got this little (and I mean little) beauty this week 🙂 I’ll never buy a strat, but I’ve been eying JM / Jags for over a year. Most of the ones I consider are big money – big money for me. I discovered the 1532T about a year ago in old […]

It’s Alive!! The Washburn A20V lives again!

Today was the day… over a year later… I finally re-wired from the ground up my very first guitar. I got this guitar gutted Jan 3rd, it only had the bridge and tuners. Not even strings. I bought (2) EMG 81 active pickups in New Jersey last September 8th, driving all the way back from […]

Just plugged this mystery mahogany Explorer in

omigosh omigosh omigosh! I just plugged this mystery mahogany Explorer in. I was afraid to – didn’t know if it was going to be a huge letdown. The sound: it’s gorgeous. I think on this home stereo no less and not even a guitar amp it may have catapulted to my favorite of all time. […]
