Synsonics Explorer MEX 20TA

It is very very light. Like 5 something pounds. I had to re-do the wiring, was quite easy and then all of the electronics worked! Two solder joints were blown / separated.

I also have 3x shimmed the neck to try to get it with decent playability using a scrap piece of cedar shingle.

I had to change out the tuners. At first, since they were on hand, I swapped in my p.o.s. Global Strat tuners. They were better than these stock Synsonics which are the worst tuners I’ve ever seen.
But the crappy Global tuners weren’t loads better. A little bit better at holding tune but still slipping.
Jake Wildwood, himself in fact, gave me a vintage 6 on a plate set. And three times a charm. These donated tuners did the trick.

Still… with tuner work, electronics work, and shimming the neck 3x changing the shim thickness can’t get this to play well. The frets are a hot mess. Buzzy. The strings are atrocious. Needs new strings and not sure it’s even worth the price of strings. May sell this off. Shame, size wise it’d be a nice toss in the car road trip cheap guitar. The neck thickness is decent.
